The Cheap MacBook Pro Experiment… What I Learned.

I bought a MacBook Pro several months back. Normally when I buy a computer, I shoot for a beast, with maximum everything. This time I decided to get the most stripped down model they offered and see how long I could take it before I upgraded the hard drive and the RAM. Only now am I buying additional memory (from OWC which is $500 cheaper than from Apple).

WHAT I LEARNED

  • I do not need the beast. If I feel like it is getting slow, I can simply order more RAM (which has the most impact on speed IMO).
  • A Time Capsule is a better BIG Hard Drive Solution: I have recently hear sad stories of friends losing everything… Its painful. Don’t be a victim, get your stuff backed up.
  • Even a base model Mac is fast and awesome. Don’t try to compare PC specs and Mac Specs.

Anyone else have something they’d like to add here??
